Self Awareness As A Skill
Only a quick post today, but talking about one key concept; self awareness.
During a podcast today the idea of self awareness came up.
People who are NOT self-aware are my pet hate. Both generally through day to day life and also when it comes to basic goals, work and living.
The day to day life one is easy to understand, people who don’t look up from their phone whilst walking, people who stand still on a busy pavement making every single person walk around them. In short, the idea of not taking a slight change just to help other humans out. D*ckheads!
This also happens a lot in the gym, about 10% of people in the gym will not put weights back, stand in the way of another person during an exercise or on a more nuanced level, just not actually take a proactive action that helps someone out (think moving a bench slightly further away if there’s space or using a different half of a cable machine to enable others to use the full one). In short, be aware of your surroundings.
But on a more skill based level, I actually think this is something I can’t get past if someone doesn’t have it.
There’s a couple of other areas I can’t get past to be friends/connected to people, things like having no ambition, no goals, fixed mindset etc.
But I think self-awareness is getting added to this list.
It’s pretty easy to see as well and extremely obvious when someone doesn’t have it.
I also group general life into self awareness as well, if you are drifitng through life and haven’t stopped for a second to think about whether you like your job, your friends, your location or just your life in general.
That’s a massive lack of self awareness.
Cheers.
